Today Mozilla released version 157 of their browser, firefox featuring a new complete design refresh, new themes and compact mode.
The new update features a modernized version of the browser with more rounded corners, new icons, rounded address bar, new colors/themes, and, as The Verge called it, “bubble-like” tabs. According to Mozilla, the new design changes will not affect the browser’s performance.
The update also includes more customization options to make Firefox truly yours with more themes and wallpapers. The update also brings back Compact Mode after community feedback. Compact Mode “reduces the size of your tabs and toolbar to give more of your screen to the web, with an auto-compact option for smaller screens.”
In my opinion the redesign is fresh but I personally don’t like it. You can easily revert the design changes without having to downgrade your version of firefox by typing about:config into the address bar and searching for browser.nova.enabled and switching to false. This reverts the nova theme back to the previous version while keeping your firefox up to date.
